We are a group of ordinary people who believe in an extraordinary Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Statement of faith

We acknowledge the headship of Jesus Christ over his Church which exists to glorify the triune God by maintaining and promoting his worship both individually and corporately.

The purpose of the church is the advancement of the Christian faith according to the teachings of Scripture, the Doctrinal Statement and Baptist principles.

Church Members have a credible profession of faith, are baptised by immersion, and accept the doctrines of faith set out in our constitution.  These may be summarised in the following statements of belief:

  • the veracity and dependability and absolute authority of the Holy scriptures, both Old and New Testaments;

  • the Holy Trinity, and the vital work of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in creation and salvation;

  • that Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, was born of a virgin, was without sin, died to atone for sin, and is the only mediator between God and men;

  • Christ’s bodily resurrection and ascension to heaven, his ministry as high priest, and personal second coming;

  • the personality of the Devil; his present evil activity and final doom;

  • the creation of mankind, male and female, in the image of God;

  • the disobedience of Adam and the consequent fallen and totally depraved natural state of all people, subjecting them to God’s justifiable wrath and condemnation;

  • the responsibility resting on all people to repent and to trust in the finished work of Christ as the only ground of their acceptance before God;

  • justification as an act of God’s free grace to sinners, whereby He pardons their sins and accepts them as righteous in His sight through the righteousness of Christ, imputed to them by God and received by faith alone;

  •  the perseverance of the saints;

  • two ordinances: (1) baptism–the immersion of believers on profession of faith into the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, as an act of identification with Christ’s death, burial and resurrection and (2) the Lord’s Supper -a remembrance of Christ until he comes and a renewal of commitment to him;

  • two offices (1) elder (responsible for the spiritual oversight of the church) and (2) deacon (responsible for the practical affairs of the church);

  • the gifts of the evangelist and pastor-teacher; the priesthood of all believers and their unity in Christ; the separation of church and state;

  • the unconditional immortality of the soul, the resurrection of the body, the eternal joy in heaven of the believer and the conscious eternal punishment in hell of those who die impenitent; and

  • the responsibility of all who are saved to serve the Lord and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives.
